Berkeley Modern Tiny House

The Berkeley Mini House is a ground-up new construction addition to the existing garden office. The new structure will use the existing space and addition to create a micro house that uses sustainable strategies and maximizes the benefits of the courtyard. The house organization allows for a maximum use of space in a minimum footprint. Entered off an existing garden terrace, the Mini House has a small but welcoming living room that opens to a hinged loft bedroom on the mezzanine and a kitchen/dining on the lower floor, which is dug into the earth. Large doors connect the lowered area to the extensive gardens beyond. The general shape and organization was driven by the strict zoning codes and meets the existing height regulations through innovative solutions.
